Mike Habat is a photographer based in Charleston. Though his main focus is architecture, he shoots a variety of subjects for commercial and editorial clients, all with a distinct and elegant aesthetic.

California-born, South Carolina-raised, I was drawn to design and photography at an early age. Avid doodling and enthusiasm for producing films on my camcorder and documenting life with my point-and-shoot camera, led me down a creative path and to a career in graphic design and subsequently, photography.

I began my college career as a civil engineering major and ended with degrees in mass communications and anthropology. This scenic route through university not only showed me what I didn’t want to do, it helped me refine my interests and over time, truly devote myself to the craft. Photographing my travels, exceptional architecture, historic preservation initiatives, and remarkable interior design is what drives me. I can’t help but think of the old addage, “Do what you love…”.
